Poetry Friday - Sara Teasdale (1884-1933)

April
Sara Teasdale

The roofs are shining from the rain,
The sparrows twitter as they fly,
And with a windy April grace
The little clouds go by.

Yet the back yards are bare and brown
With only one unchanging tree--
I could not be so sure of Spring
Save that it sings in me.

My sentiments exactly.

Poetry Friday is being hosted today at Carol's Corner.

I'd forgotten about this poem. I know I have heard the last line before. I love it!

Kelly, Carol, and Andromeda, thanks so much for stopping by! Hopefully spring will truly arrive here in New England soon. I'm longing for the day when it's above forty degrees when I get up in the morning.
